The last post of HANNAH in the official blog of Paperrater make the tune of writing this article. Should we write 3 or three in an article, document. As per general rule if you are writing number below two digit you should right in letter form. Like for 4 you should write four. But when it crosses the two digit mark it is upto to you , you can write 11 or eleven whatever you like.

The theme is when we write, we normally may make various kind of mistakes. And not necessary only spelling or grammatical, there are mannerly mistakes also. Paperrater is a service that gave us a very good platform to fight against the mistakes and make us learning after every writing.

A US based site , just came out of beta on 10th February 2010 are have awesome service.

So, what actually paperrater does? well its a online, real time proofreader for your just created document, a grammar and spelling checker, and its only its basic feature. Under the hood it help students to increase the document's readability, word choice and style also. It will check your document for grammar, then plagiarized text and suggest you for proper word and spelling , also style of writing.

You may say that grammar and spelling are also taken care of your word processor, like Microsoft Word, or Open office writer, Or Abi word. But please note that they use fixed rule which could not be match with the theme your writing. Papaerrater's intelligent service takes your document to a new height by providing additional analysis and comment. So you can get a virtual language professor/ boss before submitting your document.

Let's see how it works.

First choose a document to be given to paperrater to analyse. Pleas note that the document must have a considerable size. We experienced that document less than 2500 (apporx) character normally does not accept by system, as it is intended for analysing larger documents.

After choosing your document hit your browser to www.paperrater.com . A nice clean website will appear, and you see a big USE NOW FOR FREE button is there. Just hit it and you are started. In the second page you have to submit your document. We recommend put your document to notepad from word file then copy and paste it to submit box of papaerrater. It will help in avoiding any coding error while pasting.

The submission window contains four boxes. First is title, please provide a suitable title for your document. 
In the second box, please paste you document, text only.
The third box is optional, you can post you references or bibliography there.

The forth box is choice box of your document, choice very carefully of which type the document falls. There are currently eight variants, Research paper, Personal narrative, Essay, Book report, Speech/presentation, Short story, Movie report and other. We feel for each catagory there are some differ setting in the system for evaluating it properly. so better to make a ideal choice of type of document you are submitting.

Now before proceding you have to agree with their terms and condition. It is because this service is controversial in nature and they have their own rules.

Now hit get report, and some couple of second procession will be done before landing you to the proofing screen.

You find that your document again in front of your eyes, this time with lots of red and green lines, sometimes blue also. Lets now dig into the matter.
You can see on the right hand side of the screen a manu is there. The ideal analysing is to start with that menu. The first manu tell you about the originality/plagiarism of the document.That is weather similar document is generally available or not. Just click on the menu, it will show the result. If found Red result, then you have to go for drastic changes the way you present the theme. If original you will be greeted by a sweet green tip.

Then moving to next menu, by simply clicking next button on the result tip of first menu. We strongly recommend not to close the tip window for first time user. On clicking next you will be taken either to next section of current menu or next menu.

The next menu is spelling checker. The red underlined words are the mistakes in this case. Just click it, and remember not right click as you accustomed with Word processor, here you have to left click. A menu will appear with suggestion, and other option you are familiar too. We only mention the tab "edit selection", very smart addition here. You can change the word on the fly if you are not happy with your spelling as well as what is suggested. so you can effectively replace the world itself. Interestingly and most amazing when the software feel that you choose a wrong word it will give a red mark with option to choose. So if you have confusion about the different meaning of a word you can clear confusion by clicking Explain.

Next feature: Grammar , the next menu will help you in correcting grammar mistake, with a indication of green lines. Just click on them , helping menu will be with you. Beside all other regular item as word processor, the most eye catcher is Explain..button. When you click it, a pop up window will appear, and you will give a total guidance of grammar and what should be done.

Feature next: Word choice. This software always try to help you in making a article on simple word. So for all complex work it thinks, it will put a blue mark on them to check other simple words which can be used in alternative to make the document lucid to understand. Here also a sweet menu will help you out.

Moving next comes Style. This is completely unexpected and new to us. It is a post mortem report on your live document to show what you have done. With percentage wise analysis of different component of language and grammar. Keep clicking next button you will find more info , like word count, character count , etc. Then will come the Transitional phrase window. It will help you to make your article a truly professional one. Total guidance is given in the tip box. And is self explanatory.
Then vocabulary section come, and you will find how rich are you in this important segment of language. And don't worry if you encounter a red notification. The paperrater also have a dedicated vocabulary helper to choose right word. So click the link and you will be taken to that section.

And finally you are done. Your document gone through operation table of PaperRater and came out with extensive plastic surgery. And ready to be presented to the world. You will feel very good after looking your article when finished.

All done, now copy and paste it back to your computer. One inconvenience we found that all paragraph got vanished when you paste it. So you have to make it paragraph wise again. That should be rectified by the software provider in future update.

The whole experience is very interesting, learning and feel good. Paperrater is already used by students and professors of more than 45 universities around the world. And the good news for you is its free service. But as the net world is gradually shifting from free to paid service so there will be premium feature which will cost you some dollar.
